Talash is a general news publication covering the stories that shape the day, from civic affairs and world events to sport, culture and technology.
Talash was built on a simple premise: that a reader should be able to open one publication and leave it understanding what actually happened, without having to guess what was left out.
We report across five desks. Each one is staffed by journalists who cover their area continuously rather than dropping in when a story becomes large, because the context that makes a story legible is usually gathered long before the story breaks.
We publish continuously through the day and we correct openly. When we get something wrong we say so on the article itself, with the date and the nature of the change recorded.

Sourcing. We name sources wherever it is safe and possible to do so. Where a source cannot be named, the article says why anonymity was granted and what the source was in a position to know.
Verification. Documents and figures are checked against the issuing body before publication. Where a claim cannot be independently verified, it is attributed rather than stated.
Independence. Commercial arrangements have no bearing on editorial decisions. Sponsored material is labelled as such and is not produced by the newsroom.
